Yoga ~ Aerial Flow ~ Acro Yoga

Get away to Rockaway for Labor Day
September 3-5, 2016 in Rockaway Beach, NY

Get away for Labor Day and treat yourself to a beach yoga retreat hosted by Josephine Dorado and Blu Nathan from September 3-5, 2016. Tone up, embrace your inner spirit and indulge your outer being at our retreat in Rockaway Beach. Pamper yourself with daily yoga, aerial and meditative activities, just a stone’s throw away from NYC but far enough from the city to cultivate a relaxing realm.

We’ve teamed up to bring you the best in wellness and fitness programming for a three-day retreat at All Seasons Retreat studio in Rockaway. You can choose from a palette of activities: take Yoga, Aerial Flow, Acro Yoga and Meditation. Enjoy the many sights and shops along the boardwalk, or just relax on the beach. There are many more activities available, like stand up paddling, surfing (it’s the only place to surf in NYC!), live DJ performances at Riis Park Beach Bazaar, wine tastings, jet skiing, cycling or just lounging along the coastline.

Josephine & Nathan’s philosophy is ANY BODY CAN: we believe that anybody (or “any body”) can do Yoga or Aerial or Acro Yoga. We have both worked with people with injuries, people that are rehabilitating, elderly people and other populations that face movement challenges, and we know that ANY BODY CAN. With focused effort, clarity of intention and an eye toward adapting activities to body types, we believe that:

ANY BODY CAN – Yoga

ANY BODY CAN – Aerial

ANY BODY CAN – Acro Yoga

And we invite you to come to our beach retreat and indulge in wellness with us. 🙂

FAQ

I don’t have any experience in Yoga, Aerial or Acro Yoga. Is this retreat for me?
You don’t need any prior experience in Yoga, Aerial or Acro Yoga to come. Some of the moves might be challenging, like any new and unfamiliar physical activity. You’ll feel your strength and flexibility increase as well as your own body awareness while developing good postural habits.

What is Aerial Flow?
Aerial Flow classes develop strength, balance, flexibility and core stability simultaneously. It is a form of suspension training that combines therapeutic movement principles and Pilates techniques with aerial hammocks. The exercises are a blend of fluid movement, healing suspension and Pilates, so you get the benefits of those techniques while suspending the body in fun and challenging ways. Supported inversions allow for proper posture and re-alignment, while spinal flexibility becomes more comfortable to explore, and core abdominal muscles are strengthened. Additionally, aerial postures will help you better understand the purpose of traditional Yoga poses, allowing you to experience familiar postures from a new perspective. No previous Aerial, Yoga or Pilates experience is necessary to take our Aerial Flow classes -- all are welcome! For more info, go to this page on Aerial Flow.

What is Acro Yoga?
Acro Yoga is a form of partner yoga which combines yoga, healing arts and acrobatics. Yogis work together for therapeutic release, strength and flexibility-building and acrobatic fun. It is therapeutic, like Aerial Flow, because it supports the flyer's postures in opposition to gravity. The poses also use gravity and supported partner work to promote strength-building and stretching. In Acro Yoga, supported versions of traditional yoga poses foster human connections and create community. No previous Yoga or Acro Yoga experience is necessary to take our Acro Yoga classes -- all are welcome! For more info, go to this page on Acro Yoga.

Do you provide yoga mats?
Yes, but if you prefer you can bring your own. There will also be yoga blocks, bolsters and straps, as well as aerial hammocks, from which we will do the Aerial Flow classes.

What will be the language of the retreat and your staff?
English

Is there free wifi available?
Yes
